What is Datatag marking?
Datatag is basically very simple. I makes the insured karts and equipment identifiable to the police in such a way that it is extremely difficult for the thief to overcome and so his risk level become unacceptably high. Datatag has made a major impact on reducing the number of stolen karts and has a 100% successful prosecution rate. Can I buy the insurance without the Datatag Kit?
No. It is a policy warranty that our kart insurance policies for all insured karts and equipment are marked with Datatag. If you choose not to have insurance, you can buy a complete Datatag kit from us instead. Simply click on the Datatag button on the home page.

How do I get hold of a Datatag kit?
This can be purchased online directly from Datatag at: or contact Datatag  on 01784 778 310 or 084500700 440 and ask for the MOTORSPORT / OFF ROAD SYSTEM. Datatag will post this to you. You will need to complete and return the registration forms directly to Datatag. The cost of a motorsport kit is £59.99. 

What happens if I do not Datatag my insured equipment?
If this is not done within 21 days theft cover under your policy will be automatically excluded. If you suffer a theft you then run the risk of not being insured.

Can my equipment be covered for theft whilst in a trailer?
The basic cover for go kart theft insurance only provides for theft whilst at the storage address, but you do have the option to extend the policy to include theft from support vehicles or trailers when left overnight at a race circuit when attending a race meeting. The trailer must be immobilised by a wheel clamp and a towing hitch lock. When not at a race track, the kart and equipment will only be covered whilst at the storage address (see below).

Can the trailer be covered?
Yes this can be covered whilst being towed and whilst at the race circuit providing a wheel clamp and towing hitch lock are utilised. When not in use, the trailer will be covered whilst at the storage address providing it is either garaged / locked away out of sight or providing a wheel clamp and towing hitch lock are utilised.

Can I cover damage to the kart caused by racing on track?
Yes, providing you have taken out the option to do so of course. Cover for on track damage is restricted to chassis damage only. No cover is provided for any other components. Any accident damage should immediately be reported to a scrutineer or circuit official. Insurers will require written confirmation of this. Photos of the damaged parts should be taken and you must advise our office within 48 hours of the date of the accident.

Is cover available to residents outside the United Kingdom?
Our Go Kart theft insurance policies are currently only available to residents of the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

If I travel abroad, can I be covered for the duration of the trip?
Yes, but you will need to contact us if you have not declared this on your application form.

What happens if my kart or equipment is damaged or stolen?
In the event of a theft or attempted theft, you should advise us via the web (refer to "claims"). This must be notified to us within 48 hours. Upon receipt, we will contact you to advise the next step. All theft claims must be reported to the police and a crime reference number will be required. Insurers may wish to appoint a loss adjuster. For more details of the role of an adjuster, click here. In usual circumstances the adjuster will contact you within 5-7 days. He will then make a report to Insurers. If you are claiming for a damaged chassis, you must ensure we have all details, supporting documentation and insurers confirmation that repairs can be effected.

Will lost or damaged equipment be replaced by new parts?
The policy is underwritten on an indemnity basis. This means that Insurers may take into consideration age and wear & tear when offering settlement of a claim.

Will there be any specific conditions attached to my policy?
Depending upon the details of the storage address, photographs may be required and / or additional security provision may have to be undertaken if theft is to remain as a covered peril.

Can I buy a policy for Theft only?

Does the policy cover race suits, leathers, boots and gloves?
No. The insurers regard these items as "consumable items" and the policy specifically excludes such items.

What is the Duty of Disclosure?
The duty of disclosure under United Kingdom law is a duty to pass on to Underwriters all material information relating to the risk under consideration. 

What happens if I / we need to cancel my policy?
Contact us via the web site under ("Request for policy amendment") quoting your policy number and / or booking reference. Providing there are no claims paid, advised or outstanding, you will be entitled to a return of premium. This will be calculated on a pro-rata basis less £15 Cancellation Fee.

Can the insurers cancel my policy?
Yes, if for example, you have not complied with any security requirements. In the event of there being no claims paid, advised or outstanding, the return of premium will be calculated on a pro rata basis.

Will you share my personal information with any other third parties?

No. The information you have provided to us will only be held by us and the insurers we use for the purpose of the policy(ies) of insurances you arrange through ourselves. We will NOT send any of your details to "carefully selected organisations" since we respect the fact it is really frustrating receiving unsolicited mail. We may use your details to contact you further should we have news of insurance products or changes to your policy, but this will be on the basis of "sharing information" not advertising or promotion. This information we reserve to publicise through MORIS News on the home page of our website.

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information held by us in our records but we may ask you to pay a small fee. You also have the right to ask us to correct any inaccuracies in your information by writing to us. If you want to know more about our use of your personal information, this should also be done in writing to us.
