In the event of a claim or an incident likely to give rise to a claim, it is important that we are notified as soon as reasonably possible. Late claim notifications could prejudice your insurance cover.

 When telephoning please be ready with your policy number

There are some important points that you should be aware of if you are involved in an accident or your car is stolen.

What to do in the event of an accident

  • Give your name, address and insurance details.
  • Get the name, address, phone number, vehicle registration and any other information you can from the other driver or drivers, passengers, witnesses and any attending police officer.
  • Note the exact location and any relevant road signs or markings.
  • If there is an injury and you did not give your details at the scene, report the incident to the police within 24 hours.

What to do if your vehicle is stolen or suffers theft related damage

  • Report the theft to the police immediately and take a note of the officer's name, number constabulary and crime reference number.
  • If you know where the vehicle is after its theft, make sure that it is safe and secure.
  • You must telephone us as soon as is reasonably practicable to report the incident (Ideally within 24 hours).

 You must make sure you retain any and all supporting documentation.

REPORTING PROCESS

All claims should be reported as soon as is reasonably practicable and ideally within the first 24 hours. You should tell us even if you do not consider yourself at fault or are not planning to make a claim so we can protect your interest in the event of any claim made against you.

We aim to provide you with an excellent claims service through our network of repairers who are obliged to meet our very strict service standards. Should you choose to make your own arrangements, we will have no control over the service you receive.

When reporting a claim we will need the following information:

  • Your name, address and policy number.
  • Vehicle make, model and registration number.
  • Name of road incident occurred.
  • Details of the incident.
  • Third party details (if applicable) - vehicle make, model and registration number, address and insurer details.
  • Names and addresses of any witnesses.
  • Police Officer details (where applicable).
